NC HEAT exists to give homeschool students the opportunity to compete in amateur sports at a high school varsity/junior varsity, and middle school level. It also exists to create an opportunity for students to grow in their relationship with Jesus and to grow in their ability to nurture Christ-centered relationships with other people. It is the intention of the organization to be as competitive as possible without sacrificing our spiritual goals. Playing time is earned - not granted simply because someone is on a roster. Whether an athlete plays or not, there is an expectation that they would grow spiritually and be treated with grace and respect as to encourage such spiritual growth.
All athletes should be classified as homeschooled and registered with NC DNPE holding a current and valid homeschool ID in the county they reside in under the authority of their parent or legal guardian. The parent or legal guardian attests that they are the responsible authority for attendance record, testing and academic or transcript records for their athlete as acknowledged by the state of North Carolina. A copy of each families official nonpublic school registration record will be asked to be kept on file for the current sports season (found in your NC DNPE account). Questions and clarification about eligibility can be made to the Director of Sports or Athletic Director.
Participation is open to families of all races and religious backgrounds, but the NC HEAT Association (and all teams and activities) will be governed by policies that will be based on traditional Biblical values and principles. Therefore, it will be understood that all members and participating families will agree to abide by and submit to these guidelines if they choose to be involved in the NC HEAT program.
